What technical standards mean in practice

Industry standards can help define verification and documentation requirements, but their applicability depends on the installation and contractual scope. We do not claim accreditation or third-party certification without evidence.

AV performance verification

The AVIXA audiovisual systems performance verification standard provides a framework for identifying performance criteria, when verification takes place, and how results can be documented. The proposed acceptance checks for each installation should reflect the intended operation.

AV system documentation

ANSI/AVIXA D401.01:2023 addresses how documentation responsibilities and deliverables are defined for audiovisual projects. Drawings, equipment schedules and user instructions are most valuable when they match what has actually been installed.

Historic Scottish buildings

Some AV work in listed premises may affect historic character. Consent requirements should be checked with the local planning authority before making relevant alterations; having an installation contractor does not remove the owner’s approval obligations.

From site brief to system handover

Pegasus Sound & Light has 40 years of industry experience. We use that practical background to ask the questions that help avoid mismatched products and difficult day-to-day operation.

  1. Understand the use: determine the number of users, screens, audio zones, sources and modes of operation.
  2. Inspect the building: review fixings, cable pathways, network infrastructure, power and access requirements.
  3. Specify the system: select equipment around capability, interoperability, availability and service access.
  4. Install and configure: coordinate trades, label connections and establish intended control behaviour.
  5. Demonstrate operation: check agreed routes and functions, brief designated users and identify how support will work.
